Ishiara is a small village located in the countryside around the town of Embu, north-east of Nairobi, Kenya. In this rural area, where economic and logistical difficulties are a daily occurrence, despite being cloistered nuns, the Augustinian missionaries work to improve the living conditions of the local population, with a particular focus on children and education.
The project
Since 1977, the Augustinian nuns have been committed to the good of those who are facing the greatest difficulties. For years, our Foundation has supported the Monastery for the operation of the Blessed Mother Teresa Fasce School, where nuns educate and assist students from poor families.
The facility is a residential home only for girls and it provides education, food and all the necessary care to build hope in the future. For many boys and girls in the village, the meal offered by the Monastery is the only one of the day.
We supported the purchase of a bus to allow students to travel from home to school, in the morning and evening, safely and in case of rain. The Monastery’s current priorities include a water storage facility, a power generator and development of the interior fittings.
In 2025 we funded the works, which are still on-going, to expand the Blessed Mother Fasce School, which involves a total commitment of € 176,350, and we have allowed the creation of an emergency fund for the schoolchildren’s needs.
Support for the Ishiara Mission is guaranteed on an on-going basis.
