The Saint Rita of Cascia Foundation was established in 2012 by the Monastery of Saint Rita of Cascia, as a concrete gesture of love for those who find themselves in difficulty.

Guided by the inspiring example of Saint Rita of Cascia, the Foundation pursues civic, solidarity and social utility goals, with the aim of putting the Augustinian message into practice.

We support the charitable works of the Monastery of Saint Rita of Cascia by contributing to their sustainability through communication and fundraising activities. We guide non-profit social projects, carried out by entities and realities that operate alongside the most fragile people on a daily basis.

We believe in the strength of sharing: values, ideas and good practices are the engine for the growth of the Third Sector. This is why we work to reduce social inequalities, by supporting initiatives that respond to the real needs of communities.

Our model is based on dialogue, listening and the active participation of all the actors involved. Because only together can we generate lasting change.

In February 2025, the Foundation became a Philanthropic Organisation recognised by RUNTS: another step forward to continue promoting solidarity projects in an increasingly structured way for those who need our support.

A 13-year-long story

2012

The Saint Rita of Cascia Foundation was created as a ‘flower of charity’ by the cloistered nuns of the Monastery of Saint Rita, to make the values of charity and solidarity concrete and, with the contribution of the donors, to help to the most vulnerable throughout the world.
2017

In piazzas across all of Italy, the Roses of Saint Rita bloomed for the first fundraising event organised by the Foundation: 800 occasional volunteers took turns to run 194 stands with 19,509 rose seedlings distributed. Another 608 were distributed online.
2020

On 22 May, in the midst of the covid-19 pandemic, the Foundation brought the Feast of Saint Rita into the homes of devotees around the world with a pioneering 8-hour international live stream, broadcast on its official website and on social media channels with the hashtag #MaratonaFestaSantaRita
2022

The recognition of the Saint Rita of Cascia Foundation as a third sector organisation (ETS) marked a fundamental stage of growth and an important step forward to continue carrying out its mission of solidarity thanks to the support of its donors.

The first issue of the Foundation's official voice, our semi-annual periodical, was published. “Fiore di carità” (Flower of Charity) has, over time, become a 16-page publication that opens the doors to our world, from our activities to the projects we support, while offering a space for profound reflection.
2023

“Volontari nell’amore di Santa Rita” (Volunteers in the love of Saint Rita) was held as the first meeting of the Foundation's occasional volunteers. About 150 people, many of whom joined in groups or as a family, gathered in Cascia to meet, discuss and share their experiences.
2023

The second fundraising event took place on the occasion of Christmas, and was destined to become the fixed appointment in December. In its first edition, over 300 occasional volunteers took to the streets with “Cioccolario”, a charity chocolate bar with packaging that can be transformed into a desk calendar.
2025

In 2025 we were officially recognised as a Philanthropic Organisation within the Single National Register of the Third Sector.
