The Home of Saint Rita is located in Cascia, on the second floor of the new Cascia hospital. This is a project by the Monastery of Saint Rita created to offer hospitality and support to families from all over Italy who are accompanying their loved ones for long-term hospital care. Thanks to the renovation work, this 237-square-metre space will become a veritable “home away from home,” equipped with rooms and essential services to ensure maximum comfort.
The Home of Saint Rita is designed to host the families of patients who are facing long hospitalisation periods or rehabilitation treatments, especially for neurodegenerative diseases or head trauma. The project is dedicated to many of these families who cannot afford hotel accommodation or long-term rentals, allowing them to stay close to their loved ones in a welcoming and dignified environment.
The project
The Home of Saint Rita project came about thanks to the Saint Rita of Cascia Foundation, which raised funds during Christmas and the Feast of Saint Rita.
In 2024, no funds were disbursed, but we set them aside for the completion of the work. With the funds from 2023, it was possible to install an external staircase, which was essential to guarantee a separate entrance for guests, without interfering with the hospital’s activities.
Upon completion, the Home of Saint Rita will have 7 bedrooms with private bathrooms, a common dining room with kitchenette, a laundry room and a storage room. It is a place where you can feel welcomed to be close to your loved ones and assist them in difficult times.
