Saint Rita Oasis is the name of a project by the Monastery of Saint Rita of Cascia, with whom we share a dream to carry out a revolution: to transform a property by the sea in Porto Recanati, Marche, into a non-profit accommodation facility for people with disabilities and their carers.
We’re not just talking about reconstructing a building, but about taking on a cultural, social and human challenge: to create a space full of life, centred on people’s dignity. Holidays, understood as a time of freedom and beauty, become a right, not something superfluous or a privilege.
The project
One thousand two hundred square metres, 8 apartments, 1 multi-purpose room, an equipped beach, all with qualified staff: these are the unique qualities of a place tailored to meet specific needs. The inclusion will be tangible, the accessibility real, the well-being total and the involvement active, with the opportunity for guests to interact.
This ambitious project aims to demonstrate that another world is possible. Because tearing down barriers is not an architectural question, it leads to a paradigm shift. It means moving away from dependency to enhancement, from the ‘bare minimum’ to rights and services for a guaranteed quality of life for all.
This is why we say that we aren’t fundraising to renovate a building. We want to build a new culture of humanity and hospitality.
So that disability no longer means assistance and limits, but autonomy and freedom.
The project is structured in a multi-year programme: design in 2026, start of works in 2027, completion in 2028 and opening in 2029.
The overall financing required for restructuring the property is estimated at 2,400,000 euro.
